"Lost At Wounded Knee"
December
29,2000
For
My Dad, "The Charger"
By K. Comes Back Charger
Under the guns of the cavalry,
they marched through the cold.
The women, children,the sick,
and the very old.
Persecuted for their beliefs in hopes
of saving their ways.
Marched like cattle to face
that terrible day.
Cold winds blew like death
across the plains,
and they still do, a reminder to
those that remain.
Scared, cold,and hungry,they
feared the unknown.
The buckskin of their fate,
had already been sewn.
The morning was bitter in the
wind and hearts of men
who had no compassion, only
the means to an end.
The cold wind still blows and
in it you hear the cries,
of those falling quickly, in the
snow left to die.
The drum remains and the voices
sing the songs,
of our connection to those
who are now gone.
Reach in your heart and pray
as you believe.
for Big Foot and our relations,
lost at Wounded Knee.
